The Team
Alain Wagner
Research Director at CNRS, Alain Wagner has been the head of the Laboratory of Functional ChemoSystem at Strasbourg University since november 2007. Alain Wagner is a co-founder of Novalyst Discovery (2002), PhytoDia (2006) and most recently of eNovalys (2008). His field of research lies at the interface of chemistry-biology and material science. Dr Wagner has published more than 80 papers in peer- reviewed scientific journals and is inventor of 15 patents. Alain Wagner holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Université Louis Pasteur (1991, Strasbourg, France) and was a post-doctoral fellow with Professor Peter Schultz at Affymax Research Institute (1991-1993, Palo Alto, USA).
Rachid Baati
Rachid Baati was born in Morocco (Oued-Zem), and raised in Strasbourg. After having worked for two years at the Critt-Matériaux (Schiltigheim), he joigned the University of Strasbourg and earned his Master degree in Chemistry in 1995. During this period, he was introduced to research in organic chemistry by Prof. Patrick Pale. He then moved to the European School of Chemical Engineering (Strasbourg, ECPM) for two years and earned his Diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1997. He earned his Ph. D. degree from the University de Strasbourg in 2000 under the guidance of Dr. Charles Mioskowski and carried out postdoctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla (California, USA) with Prof. K. C. Nicolaou. He began his career at the CNRS in France, in 2002. His research interest lies in the discovery on new chemical reactions, organocatalysis, organochromium chemistry, natural product synthesis, and bionanotechnology.

Stéphane Meunier
Research Scientist at CNRS, Stephane Meunier joined the Laboratory of Functional ChemoSystem in 2005. His fields of research cover the sorting and decorating of carbon nanotubes, medicinal chemistry and the synthesis and evaluation of “smart” chemical tools for the unraveling of complex biological systems. Dr. Meunier as published about 20 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and is inventor of 3 patents. Stéphane Meunier holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Université Paris-Sud (2002, Orsay, France) and was a post-doctoral fellow with Professor M.G.
